Artisan Skills Showcase of talented racialized ladies
The "Artisan Skills Showcase" is a collaborative event organized by the Afghan Women Centre, Savalan Group of the Azerbaijanis Community of Iran, and the Maheepar company showcasing the traditional jewelry of Afghanistan. This event will celebrate and showcase the cultural and artistic skills of racialized communities, aligning with the Peace Days 2024 theme of "Working Together for an Inclusive Society."
The showcase will feature traditional Afghan embroidery and jewelry, as well as traditional Azerbaijani dancing, highlighting the artistic talents of women from these communities. By offering live demonstrations and interactive workshops on embroidery, jewelry making, and henna techniques, we aim to empower women with cultural and linguistic barriers, promoting their resilience and contributions to Canadian society.
The event will include a panel of guest speakers discussing the challenges faced by immigrant women and the development of job opportunities for racialized communities. This dialogue underscores the importance of inclusion and reflects the event’s commitment to breaking isolation and fostering cultural integration.
The Artisan Skills Showcase will be free to attend, ensuring broad community participation. Through this event, we strive to celebrate and include diverse cultural expressions, reinforcing the values of peace, resilience, and unity within our multicultural society.
