QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
The Peace Days initiative runs annually from the September 21st International Day of Peace to the October 2nd International Day of Non-Violence. We invite organizations to propose one or more activities, in line with the annual theme, to take place during this period.
Since 2015, the Peace Network for Social Harmony has been organizing Peace Days, mainly in the Montreal region.
The Peace Network for Social Harmony works to maximize the impact, outreach and efficiency of actions in the field of peace by using the power of collaboration.
The charitable organization was created in 2009 and is made up of numerous philanthropic foundations and businesses. It focuses its efforts on three areas: diversity and inclusion, violence prevention and peace promotion. Peace Days is its most significant initiative in the area of peace promotion.
The initiative has two main objectives:
- To mobilize organizations from diverse backgrounds and sectors around a unifying project and one that supports a harmonious and peaceful society;
- To provide additional visibility to grassroots organizations for the essential work they do.
Each year, we propose a new theme that reflects the social climate and the concerns of our partners in the field. The 2024 theme is: “Working Together for an Inclusive Society”.
All types of organizations: grassroots organizations, businesses, philanthropic foundations, research centres, schools, libraries, arts groups, etc.
Whether you are working for diversity and inclusion, violence prevention, social justice, seniors’ well-being, human or civil rights, youth development, safety, consensus-building, social-emotional learning, equity, education, health, employability… you can propose an activity.
All types of activities are welcome: workshops, conferences, round tables, webinars, exhibitions, screenings, family activities, artistic activities, sports activities, etc. This is also an opportunity to highlight your content and tools that relate to the initiative’s annual theme (e.g. guide, video capsule, etc.) by including them in the programming.
To register an activity for Peace Days 2024, you must complete the registration form no later than July 19, 2024: journeesdelapaix.com/redirect/
No, it’s completely free.
The Peace Network for Social Harmony is not a philanthropic foundation or grantmaker, and does not offer financial support for any activity. However, for the 10th edition of Peace Days, the Network has set up a one-time fund, in order to offer small grants to organizations taking part in Peace Days 2024. Funds will be allocated through a submission process and a subsequent evaluation by a selection committee.
You can assume that your activity will be included in the Peace Days program if you have not received any notice to the contrary from us within 48 hours after submitting your activity via the registration form. If we have any doubts about including your activity in the program, we will contact you to discuss the matter.
You are responsible for organizing your event and engaging the public. You are free to organize it as you wish, as long as it takes place between September 21 and October 2, whether online or in person.We then add your activity to the Peace Days program.
The Peace Network for Social Harmony supports and promotes activities through the use of its dedicated Peace Days website, its publications on social media and its newsletters, and through press releases (French- and English-language media) and the production of promotional materials, including a marquee, banners, T-shirts, buttons, posters, bookmarks, etc.
