Fundamentals of Mediation and Dialogue: Analysis and Comparison
This publication follows the online workshop on “Conflict Resolution in an Organizational Context: Theory and Practice,” led by Brian Bronfman on April 23, 2026. The workshop was part of the “Peace Days 365” program, an initiative of the Peace Network for Social Harmony.
The publication sheds light on conflict resolution by presenting the five styles of conflict management as well as three major approaches based on power, law, and interests. It provides a better understanding of when to prioritize dialogue and when to resort to mediation, as well as what distinguishes these two processes.
The document also outlines the main stages of a dialogue and a mediation process, the conditions conducive to their success, their similarities and differences, and signs that may indicate the presence of workplace conflicts.
It is a valuable resource for anyone who wishes to better understand conflict dynamics, foster constructive dialogue, and contribute to healthier and more respectful relationships in the workplace.
