Talking about Racism and Discrimination for Greater Social Cohesion

As part of the Montréal tracée par les vécus de sa diversité project, this interactive intercultural education workshop is aimed at young immigrants aged 18 to 35 to help them live in greater harmony, with respect for one other. It offers a supportive space to address essential issues related to racism, privilege, and exclusion. We put into words what we experience: racism, discrimination, privilege, and exclusion. Through guided discussions, concrete examples, and engaging role-plays, participants will explore the different forms of racism, visible and invisible, that permeate daily life in Montreal.

Program :
– The workshop will open with a participatory activity to create a climate of trust and safety, conducive to authentic exchanges;
– A brief introduction will lay the foundation for our discussions, co-constructing shared benchmarks around concepts such as racism, privilege, discrimination, and exclusion;
– Discussions will allow for in-depth conversations, including the articulation of experiences that are sometimes difficult to name, forming a better understanding of the mechanisms of inequality that shape our society;
– The workshop will conclude with a moment of collective reflection and the identification of concrete, accessible courses of action that will bring about change, at the participants’ level, in their communities, with respect and solidarity.
