Our documentary aims to raise awareness about the importance of values such as: living together, diversity, the sense of belonging, the creation of bonds, as well as the ability of citizens to mobilize, act and participate in building their own happiness and the happiness of the community. The documentary tells the story of the conception and implementation of the 2017 project, “Montreal, the Happiest City in the World!” Residents use the initiative to proclaim theirs as the happiest city, providing the reasons for doing so, and documenting the whole thing. Through more than 150 video clips, a citizens’ meeting, and a collective shout of joy on Mount Royal, this visionary and powerful project takes shape over many months, demonstrating how joy can be an important vector of peace.
