Introduction to Discussion Spaces

The purpose of this activity is to provide ideas for reflecting on and concrete tools for creating the necessary conditions for facilitating discussions on sensitive topics. In other words, to identify the key factors for establishing a safe discussion space – one conducive to listening, respect, and openness. Together, we will discuss what a safe space is, psychological safety, the organization of the physical space, the clinical/professional stance of the facilitator, the structure of a meeting, and group rules.
