Embracing Dual Exceptionalism

The purpose of this activity is to raise participants’ awareness of dual exceptionalism (giftedness + an associated disorder such as ASD, ADHD, learning disabilities, etc.). The activity will address the challenges that individuals with dual exceptionalism may face. These individuals often encounter discrimination in social, academic, and professional settings. The goal is to reduce prejudice.
Schedule:
1:00 pm: Welcome and opening of activities.
1:15 pm: Lecture on dual exceptionalism
This lecture focuses on the realities, challenges, and strengths of dual-exceptional individuals, followed by a discussion with participants.
2:15 pm:
– Creative games that encourage collaboration and interaction;
– Origami workshop designed to foster creativity, concentration and sharing;
– Discussion and networking spaces where participants can share their experiences and continue the reflections begun during the lecture.
