Paths to Peace: From Incarceration to Rebuilding
This activity aims to promote inner peace, personal recovery, and social harmony by giving a voice to people both inside and outside the criminal justice system. It seeks to reduce prejudice, highlight journeys of change, and produce a collection of testimonials that can inspire others involved with the system. The activity will explore the search for inner peace during incarceration, followed by ways to live in peace after release: personal healing, relationships with others, social reintegration, responsibility, forgiveness, hope, and making a positive contribution to the community. After a communal meal, participants will take part in a lively discussion about their journeys toward inner peace.
A writing session will then provide an opportunity to share personal stories, reflections, or advice. The collected texts will, with consent, be compiled into a collection intended to inspire others involved in the criminal justice system.
