Living Library: Breaking the Silence, One Story at a Time

This activity aims to foster dialogue, gain a better understanding of the experiences of people who have faced situations of violence, and encourage discussion to overcome prejudice. It will focus specifically on domestic violence, a significant issue in the Parc-Extension neighborhood.
In the form of a Human Library, individuals will share their experiences as “living books.” Participants will be invited to choose (borrow) one book at a time, “listen” to it, and ask questions in a respectful and safe environment.
Each exchange session will last 20 minutes (the duration of the “loan”), followed by a short break before the next “borrowing” begins. This format will facilitate authentic human connections that foster understanding, empathy, and collective reflection.
