21st Edition Montreal International Black Film Festival
Our objective is to provide a vibrant platform that elevates Black voices and stories through film, while supporting the professional growth of emerging and established Black creators. We aim to foster greater diversity, inclusion, and cultural understanding by showcasing thought-provoking works that reflect the richness and complexity of Black experiences in Canada and around the world. Themes that will be addressed include Racial Justice and Systemic Racism, Black Identity and Diaspora, Afrofuturism, Women’s Voices and Black Feminism, Migration, Refuge and Displacement, LGBTQ+ Black Experiences, Historical Memory and Resistance, Art, Music and Cultural Heritage, Mental Health and Healing, and Youth, Education and Empowerment.
The festival will kick off on Wednesday, September 24th at 7 PM with the Opening Night Film, followed by regular screenings from Thursday, September 25th to Saturday, September 27th between 5 PM and 11 PM; the Black Market Industry Series and Pop Up Market will take place on Saturday from 11 AM to 5 PM, and the event will conclude with the Closing Ceremony and Film on Sunday, September 28th at 6 PM.
