Seniors’ Pride Walk – Montreal 2020 ** Cancelled**
Bilingual | Target audience : Seniors, Montreal organizations and groups supporting seniors and caregivers, family caregivers and assistants. General population of greater Montreal | Free | Registration required | Open to all
Come accompanied to celebrate life and peace with us – from a distance, but together. We invite you to show your solidarity by coming for a walk with seniors at a safe distance in downtown Montreal on the afternoon of September 19. Walking at the pace of the elderly, we will participate in this first Montreal march of pride, of recognition of seniors’ rights and of the dignity of their person. This is an invitation for memory, for solidarity (with people of other generations, young people and vulnerable communities), and for taking a step towards our elders, who are sure to be invigorated! A decidedly short walk, but oh so essential. A snack will be offered. This time of intergenerational and intercultural sharing, of listening and of tranquility will be led by volunteers who will ensure our safety. Additional activities will include: testimonials and discussions, readings and writing, and “zen” or “fitness” dance. Adapted to the current circumstances, this afternoon of uniting with elders (inspiring pride, respect and well-being) will allow us to thank the amazing people devoted to taking care of our seniors. This is an opportunity to ensure that from now on, everyone can say to themselves “I remember,” without ever feeling alone again.
